Asked about this elsewhere, but maybe more expertise here.
I made a Photoshop action (CS5) that does some stuff to an image, then saves it. Let’s say it saves to harddisk/myfolder/temp.jpg.
This is called from an Applescript that then tells Filemaker to run a script to insert temp.jpg into a container field. Has to be the same name every time so Filemaker can find it.
Then the Applescript tells Finder to move and rename the file.
First time I run this, fine. Next time I run it, the action has changed, now saving the file to the new name and location, overwriting the file I had moved there the previous time and thwarting Filemaker. Photoshop is following what I did with the file after it was through with it. It’s like it’s trying to be helpful: "Oh, after I saved the file he moved it and changed the name. Next time I’ll do that for him." No thank you. Nunnayerbizness!
I found a workaround, but I want to know why Photoshop is changing something that, by definition, you want to have happen the same way every time. Is this a bug or a feature?
