I am about to do a clean reinstall of Windows (7, 64-bit).

I have Adobe Prod Premium CS6 and Lightroom 4.

Do I need to uninstall them first before I do the OS install and reinstall of the Adobe products? Or will Adobe notice that it is actually the same machine and activate cleanly.

Thanks,

If the CS6 media is original and the key for it is original, then the activation will work normally after win instalation.

Adobe advised deactivating and uninstalling under the previous windows. I did so, and after the clean install of Windows had no problems with activation.

If you are going to install windows as a clean system then it makes no diffrence Windows win create its own new partialy filled windows registry. Adobe will not be in the registry and you will need to install it again. You can point the instalation at the same directory and it will blindly over write it all again. You just need to go through the painful process of a lengthy install and enter the registration key.

If you (like me) have a multi partition, you can have Windows on C:\ and dobe and every thinhg else on D:\

What I do is use Norton ghost to create an image of c:\ after the system is set up. This image can go on D:\ or even E:\. The process of putting the image back is a simple process which means booting of the norton ghost CD and putting the image back. This process usualy takes less than 30 minutes which is less than all the instalations you have to go through. I do this when I build computers for people.

Desmond, you are only partially right.
E.g. Adobe Acrobat (full version) needs to be unregistered first. If you don’t unregister, you are not able to use the same license key in the new install.
However I don’t know how Adobe Prod Premium CS6 and Lightroom 4 behave in this respect.
