When I open a PDF in CS6 I have a problem editing it.

I use the eyedropper tool and the invoke the eraser tool. When try to erase part of an image, the background erases to a checkerboard. What am I doing wrong?

Go here to see a sample image. http://dropcanvas.com/ymckh

Thanks

When you erase in an image with only one layer, you show the "checkerboard" that indicates transparency; you’re seeing "through" the image. This means you have an image with a hole in it. That’s the way Photoshop works.

Yup!
Add a layer filled with white below the layer you are working on.
