Hi
Can someone please help me. When I scan at whatever dpi, why does white normally turn out as slightly blue and also there is a shade of red. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

That is why you have color correction tools in the scanner software. Use them. DPI has nothing to do with it. If you don’t give any more details (you don’t even say what scanner you use…) that’s all the help you will get.

Because scanners aren’t perfect.

Totally guess work here but could the bulb be at the end of its life?

Using colour correction is ok but the scanner should be able to reproduce quite an accurate white, unless its a cheap and nasty.

Cheers,
Tom
