I have just upgraded to Windows XP on a new computer. I had few problems installing software and hardware. However I cannot get my Prime Film 1800 negative scanner to work. It is about a year old. I downloaded new drivers from the manufacturer and they are on my hard drive. But when I try to scan, I get a message that says the USB is not initialized and then that the scanner is not there. I’ve checked the obvious stuff like disconnected cables.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you using a PC? Did you download the very latest Cyberview-X software /drivers from the scanace website? (they have new drviers) Did you follow the installtion instructions exactly (making sure your scanner was off until after the computer rebooted following driver installation? Did you remove previous drivers prior to installtion of the new drivers? Here are clips from their instructions:
TO INSTALL SOFTWARE AND DRIVER
(For PC User)
If Your Scanner is 1800 Model
Place the CyberView X-SF CD into CD-ROM which will autoplay. Click Install CyberViewXSF driver to install driver and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Notice:If you are Win XP users, please DO NOT eject the CD driver after rebooting. After rebooting, turn on the power of scanner and Windows XP will detect USB hardware and search for the driver on the CD:
1. In Found New Hardware Wizard window, select Install the software automatically (Recommended) and click Next.
2. In Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard window, click Finish,
then eject the CD.
It works quite well on my XP setup using PS 701 as the receiving application. I can only guess that either something is wrong with your USB port, or you made some error installing the drivers, and should delete them and reinstall.
