When I first installed Photoshop, it took over all associated files and made all their icons into a preview of the image. I changed the association on one file and lost the Icon preview… I changed it back to Photoshop, but didn’t get the preview. Instead, it’s the Photoshop logo. How can I get the icon to show a preview like it used to?

This has less to do with Photoshop than with the OS. It would help to know which version of Windows you’re running.

PS: I experienced almost exactly the same sequence of events and thanked God that it "fixed" itself. I personally find that having thumbnail previews in every Windows browse-box is rather annoying and a waste of system resources.

I’m using Windows 2000. How does it fix itself? I’m not concerned with resources since I have a very fast computer.

Right-Click on a file that file type in Windows Explorer and Select Properties.

Click on the Photoshop Image tab and check "Generate Thumbnails"

Well that’s part of the problem. I no longer have the Photoshop tab on the files I switched.
