I’ve scanned some pics and am currently editing them using Photoshop 6. I am transferring them to DV, then to VHS. Some pics are a little older and need cleaning up. What would be the best tools/features that I could use to unblur and touch up photos. Is there any standard resolution setting that I should use for DV conversion purposes. Any direction or advice is appreciated

Tafari,

In Photoshop a DV frame is 654×480 square pixels (that might vary slightly depending in which video editor you use). When you import that into a video editor it is changed to 720×480 rectangular pixels (video pixels are not square).

I use Focus Magic to sharpen the focus of my pics. You can see a few examples at:

You can download a Focus Magic demo at:

Of course, you will probably be downsampling your pics to get them into the 654×480 pixel dimensions and you most likely will use Photoshop for that.

Tafari,

For a simple quick and easy slideshow you can use Nero. Start a new VCD project and drag JPG’s in instead of video clips. When you are done just put the CD in your DVD player go through the slideshow while playing music or providing commentary and record to VHS at the same time.

If you are adding transitions and other effects you will want to use video editing software.
