there are a lot of methods to change colour photo to Black and White Photo, may i know which one is the best.

I use the convert to B&W plugin since it allows me to modify the output..

Hello,
As with everything in photoshop – there are numerous ways to achieve similar/same results.
You can simply destaturate the image: Image\Adjustments\Desaturate

You can use LAB Colour: Image\Mode\Lab Color – then delete channels ‘a’ & ‘b’ then delete Alpha 2 (delete by dragging onto trash can symbol in bottom right of Channels drop down window. You then need to convert the image back to Grayscale and then to RGB – if you wish to use the full range of Photoshop options to edit the photo – Image\Mode\Grayscale – then – Image\Mode\RGB.

You can then adjust Brightness/Contrast etc to your liking etc etc etc…

Create a new adjustment layer using the "Channel Mixer". Check the monochrome box then adjust the sliders until you see what you like … rule of thumb is to keep all three RGB channels adding to 100 … but …

I’d also add another adjustment layer for curves or levels (your preference) in order to get the contrast you want.

The beauty of adjustment layers of course is that you can keep going back and tweaking the image to get it the way you want it.
