This evening my copy of Photoshop 7 suddenly ceased to open fully. When I start it now it scans for plugins, goes through the initialising stage and then abruptly closes.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but nothing changed.

I did a system restore but that didn’t cure the problem either.

Does anyone have any experience with this situation?

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for a solution.

Thanks,
George.

uninstall and then try to delete all psfiles from your system manually and delete any psrelated entry from the registry as well.
delete this folder:
Systemdrive:\Documents and Settings\yourloginname\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop

then install a fresh copy of ps7. i hope it helps.

Before you go through reinstalling again, try resetting your preferences (see the instructions in the FAQ for this). Reinstalling doesn’t write over the prefs file and sometimes corrupt prefs can stop Photoshopfrom opening.
