Using PS CS here. I am curious as to why this suddenly started happening and how it can be fixed. I have a folder full off PS CS creations. Normally when I double-click on the photo icon it will launch PS and the photo opens. Now, it launches PS, but no picture appears. I can go under File —> Open and open it fine that way. Even when I do a File –>Save As, to another file name, double-clicking the new name will not open the photo, although it still brings the PS app. to the foreground. Any clue?

For starters, you need to tell us what kind of computer you are using, and what operating system you are using. We can’t help you if we don’t even know what computer you are using!

This is a known problem if you are using a Mac with OS X, and you just did an Archive and Install of a new operating system. There are certain critical files in your Library folder that don’t get copied into the new system. Easiest fix: Reinstall Photoshop.

Reinstall Photoshop. For some reason I’ve found this kind of behavior most times that I’ve updated the system (Mac OS X). Putting the CD in and saying install cured it each time.

You use Archive and Install, don’t you?

Photoshop CS places files in your system’s /library folder which remain in your "Previous System" /library folder after an Archive and Install. To avoid re-installing Photoshop, do a regular install instead of an Archive and Install, or go through the Library folder in the Previous Systems folder and put the files into your new Lirary folder.

Thanks for the info everyone. You guessed it. I am using Mac Panther, and I recently did an "archive & install"…..Man, you all are bright! I reinstalled PS-CS and all is fine now.
