Hi all!

I’ve found two newsgroups that appealed to me as being useful to help me extend my knowledge of Photoshop. This one, and one called alt.graphics.photoshop. Well, for now I believe this one will succesfully end my search for a good photoshop newsgroup, as it’s seems you guys are frequently posting, but it’s not going too fast. And I see all neat PS related questions , without arguments being fought off topic and many full names. Do you guys have any rules that are to be followed?

Oh. and let’s just shoot my PS. question:

Ever since I installed Photoshop CS and Adobe Gamma I have a distinct difference in gamma between the jpeg’s opened in photoshop and ones viewed through the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and I believe Internet Explorer. Obviously this bothers me, as I am unable to create the right contrast for web-work.
I can’t verify if the printing output is correct, but for now I’m assuming the web-work contrast has the problem.
How can I solve this differing contrast?

Thanks in advance,
regards

Ehh.. Why is Outlook Express shouting I should remove
"comp.graphics.apps.photoshop" from the Newsgroup line? It says I’m not allowed to make new posts. When I click OK and try to send I do see it appear here. Strange.

You’ll find a lot of the people who post there, post here, but that there are a lot more posts in the alt group. Yes, you get the occasional flame session, but you also get a lot more info. 🙂

I answered this in the alt.group. Same answer: Colour management.

Yes, that is correct.

Photoshop uses color management to adjust for the image’s profile, your exact brand of monitor, and so on. Other programs do not.

In order to see a Photoshop image the same way that it will look in Explorer, use View->Proof Setup->Monitor RGB, or turn off Photoshop’s color management completely.

I hope you’re a nicer guy than you appear to be in the other newsgroup.
