Hi

I’ve got an HP Scanjet 4570c scanner. It comes bundled with some sort of HPscanning utility.

the scans arent terrible, but they are not wonderful either. Often too hot and too saturated, and, obvious "pixel noise" in the scans.

I can take them into photoshop and color correct and generally fix a scan, but, does anyone know of a better scan utility, that will make a really good scan, first time?

perhaps its just a cheap scanner that isnt going to make a wonderful scan, no matter what utility drives it….. but any improvement would help

what i’m looking for, is the initial scan to be better than what i’m getting…..

You might also check out VueScan at http://www.hamrick.com/ Again, you will have to check to see if your scanner is supported. This is what I use with my HP6200C.

my stupid HPScanJet 5470c is discontinued, according to the HP website. So not surprising no one supports it.

damn. everything i own and use is outdated. this is ridiculous.

How silly of you, not updating everything every other month.

I wonder when Microsoft is going to start their "let users rent their software" stupidity again.

didnt see my scanner on their supported list 🙁

also, try to get an email question to their tech group, you have to have already bought their product.

upgrading hardware and software, and learning all the new programs, is a 40 hour a week job.

i was talking to a doctor recently and he said thats the biggest challenge he faces…. keeping up with new technology.

its not just us.

First make sure you’re not scanning directly into the Adobe RGB profile, which has a tendency to hot up the colors a bit. Use sRGB instead. If that’s not the problem, give the eval version of vuescan a shot at www.hamrick.com .

Agree about VueScan from Hamrick. Superb best I have found to date. Selwyn
