Can someone comment on the potential utility of stair interpolation for DOWNSIZING a file?

I have heard conflicting opinions on the advantages to gradually and incrementally downsizing a file versus doing it in one step.

Also, comments on specific utilities such a Fred Miranda’s Stair Interpolation would be appreciated.

Thanking all in advance.

Chris Cox from Adobe told me a few months ago it’s better to do it in one step.

I checked it out and of course he was right.

I made some tests with 90% steps, and with some examples, it seemed to do better than one step down sizing, and with other examples vice versa. I recommend you to check that out yourself. FM Stair Interpolation is nothing else than just the same thing, no special tricks.
