I’m new to Photoshop and I can’t find a way to force the crop tool to fixed ratio. Can someone give me a hint?

Thank you, Sergio

Once you click on the crop tool, the above options bar (right below the file.. edit… image… bar) will allow you to type in the dimensions for the crop tool. You can choose pixels or inches simply by typing "px" or "in" after the height/width numbers you enter.

When you then use the crop tool it will keep the aspect ratio of the measurements you select. (ie. if you want a 200px x 400px crop the tool will keep the tool at a 2 to 4 ratio) Once you click enter then the selected crop will be 200px by 400px.

If you want the crop tool to be 200px by 400px automatically (not just proportionately) then use the rectangular marque tool. Set the dimensions to the desire height and width and when you use the marque tool, a box will appear automatocally set to 200px X 400px. When you’re ready to crop just go to image>crop.

Hope this helps,
Steve
