I’m wanting to put a lot of vacation photos on a CD for viewing by companions.

Is anyone aware of a "slide show" viewer application for JPG files that offers the option of displaying (superimposed upon, right below the pictures) the captions attached using Photoshop LE?

Of course, I’d prefer freeware or shareware, but whatever, if it works well.

Thanks for any help,

WD

There are many of them. Look at

Hey, thanks for responding.

Unfortunately, the descriptions on these viewers at tucows and the other sites I’ve visited do not refer to their displaying >>>captions already created in Photoshop<<<. That’s the critical issue.

I was hoping someone in this newsgroup had already found a viewer that did this.

(I’ve already got hours invested in Photoshop captions for these pix and hope not to have to start over.)

What do you mean by "Photoshop captions"?

Nicholas,

Thanks for your interest!

Captions can be imbedded with JPG files in Photoshop Elements:

File > File Info… > Caption

(This is the same function that imbeds Copyright & URL info, and also shows EXIF information.)

If desired, Photoshop Elements will print these embedded captions below a picture when it is PRINTED.

I have several hundred pix that I’ve captioned this way. My hope is to find a slideshow app that will display these captions on a monitor screen along with the photo. With the popularity of Photoshop Elements, digital cameras, and CD slideshows to share photos, it seems like a very logical application function; but I have not been able to locate any such application with that function (doing google searches and checking out tucows, nonags, etc.).

Hoping someone else has stumbled onto it….

I would assume text entered in the "Caption" field of the File Info.

Presumably captions created Photoshop’s "Captions" field? ——————————-

I didn’t see what ver PS you are using, but you might find Automate>Web Photo Gallery will do much of what you want to do. It displays Metadata along with the image and is available in CS/v8. I don’t recall if it was in v7.

Dave,

Sorry for my suggestion on PS CS. I re-read your OP and see you are looking for shareware/freeware viewers. I don’t have any suggestions for you there, sorry. Please disregard my earlier reply.

I just stumbled across JAlbum ( http://jalbum.net/ ). It is a web photo album generator, but it does have a slideshow option. It also seems to include the caption information, at least in the little testing that I did.

I know that it would be easier to have a standalone slideshow viewer, but in lieu of that, this might work for you.
