Without losing ANY quality? Nothing can do that. You can play tricks with resampling, Genuine Fractals, chicken sacrifices on the altar of the pixel queen herself, but you can’t make something larger out of something smaller without interpolating.

Nothing–no technique, no program, no algorithm–can enlarge a pixel-based image without losing quality. It’s not even theoretically possible.

Forget the cheesy Hollywood cliches; it simply cannot be done. A pixel-based information contains a limited amount of information; it’s broken up into squares of solid color. Nothing can increase the number of pixels and create image detail which does not exist in the original.

Imagine a picture which contains a small dog in the foreground. Imagine that the dog is so small the dog’s entire eye is just one pixel. How can any program or technique increase the size of the dog, and create the proper detail in the eye? The same is true for any image detail anywhere; detail can’t be put into the image if it isn’t already there.

Sorry…

Generally, enlarging an image will not cause any substantial loss of quality if a reasonable interpolation algorithm is used. I think you actually are trying to *gain* quality, e.g. improve the resolution, by enlarging the image. That’s not going to happen, although you can sometimes improve some cosmetic defects.
