I have noticed that the images displayed on the lcd screen of my canon G5 camera ,that look correctly exposed ,come out darker when dispayed on my monitor. I have it calibrated using adobe gamma , so which is correct and has anyone else noticed this,as it makes tonal & colour correction difficult.

Your calibrated your Canon camera’s screen?

Neat trick.

Most camera LCD screens do a great deal of compression of the image. They are taking a multi-megapixel image and fitting on to just a few inches of screen. This makes a big difference. Also, most LCD screens have adjustment controls for the brightness and contrast. This can help a bit. Most of all the LCD screen is there to help with composition and to preview and image to make sure you got what you wanted so that if you didn’t you can delete it. It is not designed to show you the true image. You are expecting too much.

Never trust the image from the lcd screen on your camera. Besides, I don’t know about G5 but my S2pro allows me to change settings I believe, lighter, darker… My images tend to look too light as well in the S2Pro, unless I tone the LCD down a bit.
