hi, just got a sony e250 monitor….bit basic but better than my last one, problem is it only has temp settings for 9300k, 5000k and a sliding scale from 0-100 (fine adjustments apparently)…want to set it to 6500k….but it’s not there!!
Not sure what to do, in an ideal world i’d get a calibration device, but then in an ideal world!! Do you gals and guys have any advice?

cheers confused mike uk

Mike,

I think the sliding scale takes you from 5000 to 9300, so each increment will increase the temp by 43 (9300 minus 5000 divided by 100).

To get to 6500, set the slider to (1500 divided by 43) 35, and you should be right.

klass..
That dosen’t seem to work (far to warm)….any more ideas? When i use adobe gamma (using the set white point measure squares)and pick the neutral square it says that i’ve picked 6500k temp, so ok, sounds good, but the screen still do’es not look right…i’m confused
Cheers Mike

Mike,

I’m working from memory on my old Sony monitor (my new ones have a 6500k setting), and I can’t recall anything else.

With Adobe Gamma, what profile are you using as a starting point? Have you checked the Sony website for a E250 specific profile?

Klaas.

Actually it seemss ok, put the slider to 100 and that has the same colour as the 9300k setting, also puting the slider to 0 and it has the temp as the 5000k setting….so you must be right!
Spose trying to set up those colour boxes in adobe gamma is a bit hit and miss…….all that squinting.
Cheers for your help…..Mike
