Hi,
I am starting to learn Photoshop 7 with a good and I do not
understand
what is the Gradient Tool. I tried it over a picture but it does not do much. Could you help me?
Thanks,
Richard
I have finally found out how it works. It seems that I have to select something with another tool before using it.
Thanks,
Richard
Look it up in the manual. I don’t think you get it yet.

I looked it up in the help index of photoshop and it is not really clear but by playing with it I seem to see what it is doing but maybe I am all wrong…

Richard,
Some learn most easily from reading, while others, more from doing. Some lucky folk can marry the two learning styles quite nicely. Because of the myriad of uses, the Gradient is a wonderful tool. It can help to create a gorgeous sky, where only a bland one existed. It can help you to apply an effect in varying degrees through a mask to which it has been added. It can create a graduated background on which to place a product that has been knocked out of its original plain background.
Several good books that take Photoshop from the library into the real world are full of examples of its use. The Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a Book, is a good starter. I don’t have a count (and the CS ver might have more or fewer), but I’d guess that the Gradient Tool is used differently in about five cases, throughout the book.
Explore and imagine. It is a wonderful tool to have in your program.
