g’day everyone
i’m restoring some old photos, ideally i’d like to remove the existing background and put something new in. anyone have any links to online galleries of photo quality scenic backgrounds? i’m looking for a variety of pictures, garden scenes, holiday scenes, that could be used for such a purpose. i’ve googled without luck, but i don’t really know what to call the pics i’m looking for!!

I’ve looked for years for good quality stock images and it seems gettyimages.com has some of the best, if only comprehensive supply, but it gets rather pricey to buy them. I suppose if it’s for personal use, you could legally grab their low res images off there and use them. Maybe if you end up using it, buy the higher res version and swap it out. That’s what I’ve been starting to do anyway.

Here is a place where hobbyist photographers post their images. It may take you a while to find an image that is set at the resolution or scene that you want – but it is free.

Before you start your project you may want to consider going to the Adobe Photoshop Website and get a basic idea of the tools in photoshop. As you read along keep photoshop open and experiment with each tool as you read about it.
Once you become a little bit framiliar with the tools then visit some of the links I provided. Otherwise your just going to get confused and frustrated.

And remember always work with a copy of your original file. Do not use the original file.
