Hi Everyone…

I’m new to this group and Photoshop ..I have a question
about my software program.
I had a friend pass away a little while ago & he just bought a new computer which I now have..he had purchased a new copy of PS and registered it in his name.
I ended up trying it out a few times & enjoyed it since it was already installed on his computer but now I’d like to put it in my name so I can upgrade it.

I don’t talk to anyone in his family anymore since I live far from them and he passed almost a year ago now ….so
I wondered, is it possible for me to do this somehow?

Would I have to proove he is dead? I don’t want to bother his family now for something dumb like this and I have all the packaging and stuff..

Any advice or should I just pay full price & buy it even though this one was bought & never used by him really?

TIA

If Adobe deals with this like anybody else would, they’ll want certifed copies of the death certificate and the will in which he *specifically* stated that he bequested his Photoshop license to you. Even then it’ll get kicked upstairs to one of their corporate attorneys. It’ll be a hassle, all around.

And, be prepared for laughter when you have the first phone call with Adobe customer service – they have heard it all, and will probably think this is just another hoax.

That’s an interesting issue, for example would the license transfer to a spouse with the death of a licensee ?

In your case I’d just enjoy the memorial to your friend.

Would agree with Flycaster… and if no will bequething it to you then a notarised letter/statement from whoever actually inherited it saying they’d given it to you an had no hassles with the license being transferred.

Cheers….

Why do you have to put it in your name to
upgrade it? Send them a money order. If you
are on the level, then your friend wanted for
you to have the equipment, or did he? Because
if he didn’t give it you then you are stealing.
If he did, then I appreciate your not wanting
to bother his family over this. Adobe shouldn’t
profit by your friend’s death, though. And
maybe someone there will be a little more under-
standing than most of us think.

Xeri,
I am not dead, and I’d like my computer and software back. Call home. Eddie
