Hi all,

I’m using photoshop now for about two years, mostly for my work as webdesigner. Making menus and playing with photos is not a problem anymore.

What I wanted to ask the PROs is how to create some photoshop art. I see it all over the internet, and it is possible with PS, I know that, but I have no idea how to start…

I’m talking about images like these, which I like a lot: <http://www.synthesis01.com/popup/vecto1.gif>

Anyone who can give me some advise on how to start or some tutorials?

Thanks a lot.

How does a writer write?

How does a jazz musician improvise?

How does a painter create a masterpiece?

How does a sculptor rend a gargoyle from a granite slab?

They know their tools and techniques, and tap their deepest imaginations to make manifest the desires of their souls.

If you know the tools, tutorials won’t help.

Or start by filling the image with black, then remove the parts that don’t look like what you want.

The example could have been done with a vector drawing program like Adobe Illustrator.

Start by playing. Play with simple "shape" tools and their options along the top bar, until you understand how to add them together, subtract them, and intersect one shape with another uaing layers and blend modes. (Also use the "Pen" to create any vector shape you wish.

(For example, while building shapes: Make your background layer your web page color. The blend modes, such as darken and lighten, will have much to do with your colour choice.)

That sample was done with Illustrator. There’s an Illustrator icon at the bottom.
