PS ICON – Where is it?

I cannot seem to find my various Adobe icons….? Where would they be on an XP Home OS?

meaning…..when you want to associate various icons with file types…like .jpg, .gif, etc.

Open Explorer. Go to Tools/Folder Options. Select the file ty[pes tab. Select whichever file types you want to associate with PS. Click the change button. Select Photoshop from the Browse menu. Click OK. Et voila! 😉

thanks hecate…but, when I do that it does not really tell me where the files are actually located….I want to actually upload
these icons to my server….I have an upload script for my clients and I want to associate the appropriate icon with the file type.

You mean C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\psicon.dll?

YOu need a prog that will open the icons for you, like microangelo

Sorry I was surprised by your question as I thought you knew better anyway 😉 And I misinterpreted what you wanted.

Generally, App icons are within a dll and you can only associate the files with that icon if you have that particular dll on your computer. Consequently, what you want to do is unlikely to be possible.

However, and it’s probably illegal, but it may be possible to import the icon from the relevant dll into an icon editor which will read the relevant dll. Try some of the shareware icon editors and see if they’ll read it. 🙂
