Crop tool started making my TIFF files very small

I’ve been cropping my 64MB TIFF files, but suddenly when I do it, the TIFF files are small instead of the original size.

Hi Bill,

The TIFFs are small in what way?…the reported file size? If so, could it be that you’re saving with the LZW compression enabled? That would certainly reduce the file size although there’s no problem in that other than increased open/close times.

If you mean the cropped image size is smaller than desired, the only thing obvious that comes to mind is to ask if your crop options in the Options bar were correctly set?

Check what setting you have on the Option Bar with the crop tool selected….

………. especially make sure that the resolution is set to the same size as the original. You might be going from an image @ 300ppi to an image @ 72ppi.
