once you have CS installed go to the installation directory and copy 3 files to a disk – anytime you need to reload PS just copy those files back into the dir and relaod CS it’ll reactivate, no phone calls, no nothing.

Any 3 files???

I have installed and uninstalled PS CS 3 times now on the same machine and it re-activates without issue. Id like to know more about what you mean, please explain yourself more clearly.

Cheers

if i say much more i tell you how to crack the activation.

no Not any three – two .dlls and a .dat
activation modifies the .dlls (and adds a .dat file) as long as you save these files before (oh say formating the drive) and copy them back in after modifing the drive. the activation will stay – if these files are copied in from the install disk you’ll need to reactivate.

same thing works if you change drives – install PS, copy the files saved files to the dir, and you’re good to go – no need to activate.

Where does one find the installation directory?

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS
(in other words, that is where Photoshop is installed by default,,,the installation directory)
The three files, two dll’s and one dat file are all there.

If the activation process works the way it is claimed to work on the Adobe website, this last will not work. The hard drive itself is marked and a new one won’t be marked.

However, I’ve not tried it either way, so don’t take my
word as gospel.

it works on an install to a completely new drive – with the old one out of the system completely. not sure why – one of the .dlls is not present in the original install, it appears upon activation. if you copy this one to the new drive PS starts out activated you’re never asked to activate.

Why would we need horror stories?

Is it not enough to know that the program cannot be installed without "permission" from the company that made the product, and which claims their right to control your use of it after you paid? Whether you install today, tomorrow or in three, five or seven or more years, you cannot legally do it without being dependent on their activation service and its availability.

Without the software, we can neither create, nor work with, nor access our own data. That means, any software company which wants to control their customers’ use of the programs effectively controls the whole machine.

What more do we need to know, in order to say no to the nonsense? It is a moot issue whether activation will be denied you tomorrow or in some years. The point is that with activation, you are forever dependent on the software company’s specific service in order to use your own computer for the use for which it was acquired.

I am afraid that no horror stories are needed.
