Best way 2 upgr. new WinXP PC to 7.0 w/o inst. old 4.0 1st. ???

I’m looking for solid advice on how best to "upgrade" my new WinXP Pro PC to 7.0 without first installing my old Photoshop 4.0 on it. I get the feeling (after looking through this forum), that if I install the old 4.0 Photoshop on the new machine in preparation for the normal process of upgrading to 7.0, that the underlying 4.0 / 7.0 "combination" will be problematic afterwards. Does anyone know for sure if that is the case? Is there a cleaner way of getting the 7.0 upgrade price I qualify for without compromising the performance of the application on the new box? I would like to install just the 7.0 components on the new box. Anyone out there gone through this procedure in either fashion? The new machine is an P4 w/ 1G ram, 160G HD and I want to be sure that I will be able to take full advantage of it’s hardware configuration. All advice appreciated…

You don’t need to install PS4 back onto your system – simply install PS7 and at some point in the instalklation procedure it will ask you to insert your previous versions CD – take the PS7 CD out of the drawer and replace it with PS4, it will authenticate that version and then you put the PS7 CD back in the drawer.

Each upgrade disk is the complete program, you just need the serial number to do the upgrade.

Thank you for the response… I’ll give it a shot. Someone had told me that if done in this fashion, I would continuously be prompted to insert my PS4 disk each time I started PS7… what a dilemma!
