Hi,

I downloaded a web template, and it has a complete PSD with many many layers of an entire page.

Now i’m incredibly new to PS, so please excuse the ignorance! How do i extract the image from one particular layer?

Secondly, where’s the best general place to fead forums and find out about photoshop?

Thanks!
Dan

to copy what is in one layer only

in the layers palette, select the layer by clicking on it

use the menu to Select all OR use the marque tool to drag across the image OR press keys Command + A on Mac ( cntrl + A on PC)

press keys Command + C on Mac (contrl + C on PC)

You now have the layer image in clip board. You can create a new document and paste image in or paste image into open document.

If us press keys Command + Shift + C on Mac (Contrl + shift + C on PC) you will copy all the visible layer data.

If you want to learn Photoshop I recommend the PHotoshop Bible by Deke McClelland. It has everything you would want to know.

This is great it worked a treat.

The reason i couldnt get it to select before i think is probably because i didnt have the auto select layer option turned on.

Complicated software this is!! Well, no not the software, but the psd im working with!
