out of bounds tutorial

Does anyone in here know where I could find an out of bounds tutorial for PS7 or know how it is done? Just in case there are a few people that aren’t familiar with this procedure it is where a subject of a photo extends past the edges of the photo.. Please help. thanks

I don’t know of a tutorial but if this is what you want, it doesn’t take too much time.

1. make a copy of your background layer and turn off the original background layer.
2. double click on the quick mask icon in the tool palette and select color indicates selected areas. Make sure black in foregrounds color. Turn on the quick mask (Q on the keyboard) and fill in the part you want to hang over the edge of the photo (like legs, arms, tree limbs, hanging flowers, whatever).
3. Hit Ctrl J to copy the selection to its own layer.
4. Select the background copy layer and drag with the marquee tool to select the area you no longer want. That would be area that you want the parts to hang over.
Don’t know if this is what you are after or not.

1 Separate your subject from the background put it on a new layer.

2 Create a border on another layer and place it between your subject layer and background layer.

3 Create a drop shadow to add a little depth.
