I am following a chapter in Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a Book lesson 8 painting and editing.
At one point the book has me create a new layer and group it with the previous.
1.When creating a new layer and grouping it with the previous layer, why is it that as you paint you do not have to worry about painting outside the tree area (becuase it is protected as the book specifies)?
2.What is the difference between doing it this way and just making a selection to paint so that you do not worry about painting outside an area, and painting on a new blank layer within the selection?
Thanks!
