Just saw the presentation for Photoshop CS yesterday. The features they added are really cool. Sure hope I can get my hands on it when it comes out. I don’t know if we’ll have it here at work. I sure hope we do.

However, I only have version 4 at home. Can this be upgraded to CS? If not, what version will be able to get the upgrade?

Can this be upgraded to CS? <<

Yes. At worst you would need to call Adobe for help in installing, but that shouildn’t be necessary from V.4

Hello,

I need to upgrade my license of Photoshop immediately, however I noticed that CS will not be available until the end of November. If I purchase the upgrade to 7.0 today, does anyone know if will I have to pay the full price to upgrade to CS next month?

I could not find any info on the Adobe site regarding this. I tried to contact customer service by phone, but their automated system does not seem to like my phone and they don’t give the option to stay on the line to speak to a live rep. Add to that their unwillingness to use email for communications and I am left in the dark.

the way i understand it, yes, if you get 7 today (after the announcement) you’ll be able to get a free upgrade to cs (8) when it ships for the cost of shipping only.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, it seems that they no longer offer the 7.0 upgrade from the Adobe Store..only the full version. 🙁

Try amazon.com < http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000063EMX/qid =1065639344/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/102-0326873-1909779?v=glance&a mp;s=software&n=507846> you can get overnight shipping if you need it fast. also any computer store (and many office stores) near you will probably carry it.

Kris…you can buy adobe products at computer stores too. I am sure if you contact a local vendor, they can hook you up with the 7.0 upgrade.

EDIT> blah…too slow on the draw 😮 …dave has the ticket 🙂

I believe that Photoshop CS’s installer program will upgrade automatically from Photoshop 5.5 and up. Versions earlier than that will require a phone call to Adobe.

I don’t mind activation but this bothers me, I’ve always hated the "disk swap" install but now I have to call Adobe. I bought the license early and gave them money for upgrades, and I have to activate over the net and call Adobe on the phone. Are you sure about version 5.5? Previously my version 4 disk worked

Previously my version 4 disk worked

That means you already upgraded past 4.0? Just use one of the upgrade disks. It should work.

Problem solved. I just purchased it from Adobe Store Japan. I know I can get it at stores and other online vendors, I just prefer to buy directly from the "manufacturer", as have had issues in the past with online venders going out of business, being bought out,"upgrading" their systems and messing up DB/User info etc.

Thanks all.

Well I feel silly, I always thought you had to use a non-upgrade disk

So what’s the procedure on getting the CS upgrade?

I ordered PS7 on October 6th which Amazon.com got to me on the 17th, and my call to Adobe got me one of the "I don’t know we’ll be doing this" types. Any word here on the procedures or pricing?

Call customer service again and tell them when you bought PS 7. You are eligible for a free upgrade to PS CS. I don’t know if you can get the free upgrade to the whole suite.

Wish I could afford the suite, but I’d be happy just getting the Photoshop CS. And I did register the PS7 on the 17th, so it’s in their system.

I’ll try again, thanks!

Registration date means nothing. You’ll need to supply proof of purchase after 9/28.

I have the invoice and the shipper from Amazon with me. No worries there.

I’ve always hated the "disk swap" install but now I have to call Adobe.

PS7 introduced a new serial number system so EVERYONE using 7 and higher will already be up to speed on the SN necessary for CS.

The disk swap routine hasn’t been required since version 7 shipped – all you need do is type in your version 4/5/5.5/6 serial number. Assuming it hasn’t been blocked (listed as a pirate serial number) you’ll be up and running. I really wish some otherwise well meaning folk would get their facts straight before propagating inaccurate information.
