My wife loaned me her teeny, tiny flat digicam and my generous nose is in every frame. Got a Nose Eliminator plug-in anywhere? As an aside, there is a profound DOF effect. (That’s Decrepit Old Farte effect.)

ROTFLMAO! Sorry, no plugin I know of. Is it "The Great Uncroppable Nose!"? Get out your stamp tool or healing brush and go to town on ’em;)

Or, make a mystery out of the nose… strange, unidentified object appearing in all your photos…

Or, claim it’s a new effect! Lionizing! (see Edgar Allan Poe)

Unfortunately, there is only a Filters->Nose->Add Nose… option in PS. For denosing you have to rely on Neatimage for instance, a freeware version with limited capabilities is available. You will have to check "very, very low frequency" and "smooth edges" in the Nose Filter Settings tab.

Peter

Should I also check the "Blow nose" option?

Yes, Filter-Add Nose. How else can they justify that finger in the work pallet which I presume is Pick Nose (a selection tool).

They all seem to have free versions … with somewhat limited capabilities.

Other programs that may help would be

Nice! Thanks for the ref. I had posted about a real noise problem a few days ago, got some great replies, esp. from Bill Hilton. I try to keep my nose out of photos, although that doesn’t prevent me from sticking it in other places….

In brief, I took a quick snap in RAW with ETTL flash on a Digital Rebel, not knowing I had set the ISO to 1600. Lots of noise that needn’t have been there….. with that info, might there be a particular plugin or procedure to reduce that specific type of noise?

three I know of being noise ninja, neat image, and I forget what the other one is exactly called, but quantum repair or some such.

And it smokes all of these apps by a long shot.
oh, and again, this is not a stand alone application. It is a lengthy photoshop action. So it uses photoshops extremely powerful set of utilities, not some 3MB download. While noise ninja and neat image are ok, they blur way to much of the image for what they do. This action does not do that, it works via luminance and chromanoise, not blur effects. HENCE BETTER. You can actually look through the action if you want and see exactly how it works, and yes, you can tweak the settings to your lil’ hearts content. It’s free, just try it. Or don’t. I don’t care.

I have noticed on both noise ninja and neat image the amount of blur induced into the image is unacceptable to me, especially on images which are really suffering from being underexposed, hi-ISO, or both. Did I mention it’s free?
I should mention that as far as the de-noise effect, the only thing I ever use it for is high ISO images, or underexposed. Works fantastic for that, much better than the aforementioned programs. I have neat image on my PC. Since finding this lil’ gem, I have not used it since, as I rarely have any other use for a de-noise program other than high ISO type noise. I would imagine if your trying to make a scanned color newspaper flyer look like a photo, you might have better luck with neat image, but I haven’t had that issue come up yet.

NoiseNinja, Neat Image, etc. also reduce noise "via luminance and chromanoise". They also have settings that control the degree of noise reduction and blurring. Aside from being free, you failed to explain how Digital Deluxe "smokes all of these apps by a long shot."
