"Gadgets" …
Why do you need it dockable? Just ensure save palette locations is on in prefs, maybe save your workspace too?
workspace is saved.
2 reasons, probably minor to a lot of people but I use photoshop like 6 hours a day at work
1. when i minimize on my 2 monitor setup (matrox p650) it "pushes" the file browser to the left underneath my layers palette. I believe Photoshop wants it to be in the left monitor when i maximize again. the file browser is the only window in all of Photoshop to behave this way. When I had it as a tab on my palette well, then of course I didn’t have the problem.
2. it takes up space. I’d rather have more other things accessible and have the filebrowser a click away.
i realize there is a hotkey to make it appear and disappear, but this is unsatisfactory to me as well. its not looking like there is a solution other than the hope that someone at adobe hears me.
