Does converting text to a work path mean you do not have to worry about another user having that font installed on his/her computer? Will it always show up the same way no matter what computer the font is being viewed on?

Are there any drawbacks to converting text to a work path?

Can you switch a text work path back to normal text later?

yes converting text layer to vector shape means that the installed font is no longer required.

Drawback: Text is not editable as ‘Text’ editing. Not a reversable processes once file is saved and reloaded.

No cannot reverse.

Dear Bru,

Save your original file with text active, in case you need to go back and edit.

Thanks guys,

What did you mean by saving the original file with text active? Do you mean just not to convert it to work paths?

They mean you save a copy of the file just before you convert the text to paths. Then, after you finish the whole thing, save with a different name.

Then, if you must edit the text, you will have a version with editable text, and can either proceed from there, or copy a text layer over to the final document, etc.

Another way

Duplicate the TEXT layer. Vectorise the Duplicate.

Hide the original Text layer (so it can be later used for re-editing).
