hello

I would like to copy one image into an area of another image. the copied image should automatically be adjusted H/W to the area with constrained porpotions.

Is that possible?

How do I do it?

I don’t think you can do this, although some of the actions mavens may disagree. You would have to do it through an action, because PS will not do it in a single step. The problem in the action is in contraining the proportions. Sometimes it will go to the width, sometimes to the height, and I am pretty sure that actions can’t make that kind of decision.

Don – thanks for your reply. If I skip the part about constraining the H/W, could you please tell which commando to use to fill the area with the copied image?

thanks in advance

Bob

the "paste into" will not automatically resize and fill the area. That’s the functionality that I am looking for (BTW PaintShop has that functionality).

Any clues in Photoshop?

nilsnilsson,

After paste into hit CTRL+T to transform. Hold down SHIFT to constrain proportions. Hold down ALT to transform from the center.

It is just that simple and can be done with just a few keystrokes.

CTRL+C
SHIFT+CTRL+V
CTRL+T

GullOlle,

True. I figured it was just a given when "area" was specified. Then again you never know what someone might mean by "area".
