Hello All,
I am looking for a stocastic screening solution for Photoshop CS
I found one plug-in but it turned out grainy seps.
Thanks,
FT

If the midtones don't show a pattern, the grainy seps are... it.
Pandemonium : )

I need an algorithm that does not add noise to the image. I know that there are many version of error diffusion screening the problem is most are built into RIPs.
I am looking for a plug-in so that I can prescreen my images.

Can you say "expensive"?
(and I haven't used it in many years)

Yes it is pricey, but I could deal with that if it solved my problem.
Unfortunatly its specs are out of date. PhotoSpot ct is compatible with any computer running Adobe Photoshop 4.0+ on the MacOS (System 8.6 - 9.2).
I'm running OS X only and PhotoshopCS

4.0+
Pray!
.... or contact Isis and see if you can become a beta tester (if they're really working on a new version of IceFields):

You can RIP a file with stochastic and recombine it back in Photoshop, but the file size will be above the 2 gig limit.
What micron do you want?

I have a plugin that does resampling and stochastic screening in one pass, to EPS, DCS 1 & 2 or TIFF files. Any resolution can be specified, and the plugin is not restricted by Photoshop's 30,000 pixel limit.
The algorithm does not add noise, is much more reproducible than Photoshop's basic Floyd-Steinberg (which is inappropriate for high resolutions), and has been tested successfully on newsprint, offset litho and even alternative process photography, for which it has become the preferred process.
Contact me for more details (the price is not outrageous :). A (slightly old) demo version is downloadable from my site <

Toby, Why don't you plug the new version on your site?
#9
Thanks for the Isis tip. I used Icefields nearly a decade ago for a similar need. I didn't know they were still around.
Toby I will check your site out.

Why don't you plug the new version on your site?
Thanks for asking... The main new feature in the new version (not in the demo) is the addition of TIFF output. I really do need to update the demo :-)
Frozen Tundra, if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.

Mr. Thain, I disagree with your political stand, but I would recommend your site to those interested in stochastic (and some other topics).
I congratulate you for your terrific forum attitude and accomplishments as an imaging professional.
How long do you think it will take before the update will be available. I would like to give it a try.
Thank you!

SecondGlance responed to me and said that thier Photospot software will be updated for OS X but had no time table for the completion.
So if anyone knows where else to look please let me know.
Thanks

Clasic?

The nature of my application requires me to stay within the native OS X enviorment.
Classic is not an option, but thanks.
