New Image background

I want to reset my photoshop 7.0 software. When I select: File >new>the untitled image has grids in the background.When I first installed photoshop the untitled image was just blank with a white background

Open an image and go to View>Show>Grid and uncheck the option. Or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+" (Control plus quote)
