Photoshop fails to start

Photoshop appears to be opening normally, splash screen etc, but just as the program is finally about to open it closes down. Re-installing does not fix the problem.

It did work before.

Any ideas?

Reset your preferences as per the procedure in the FAQ, that should sort it out for you.

(reinstalling does not reset the prefs file)

If resetting the preferences doesn’t work, pay attention to the text messages on the Photoshop splash screen as the application launches.

What is the last message you see before launch failure occurs?
