Help..Can not open new files or existing files

I have no idea as to what may be causing this….I go to open something and it does absolutely nothing…any ideas?

Is this with the program open, or when double clicking on a file?

I would first delete the preferences file (see how in the FAQ). Then a reinstall.

This is not something I have seen before, but these steps often solve odd problems.
