I have a picture of a lemon that I want to place multiple times at different sizes to form a background. I know that I can do it by copying and pasting but this is slow. Can it be done by using a brush so that I can position and then place?

Have you ever heard of the clone tool? The fastest method however is not a brush, but this: select the lemon and drag it with the CNTR key pressed. That will create a duplicate in the same layer. Let go, and start dragging with the CNTR key pressed again. And again. And again.
