Hi,

at the moment I am trying to create photo galleries for our school magazine we want to publish after our final exams. Now we have lots of photos which we want to present on dedicated pages only for those photos.
There would be the possibilty to create this gallery with a preset automation script in Photoshop (unfortunately I don’t know the English title. In German it’s called "Kontaktabzug II"). However, all those images have the same size and this looks quite boring.

What we would like to achieve is rather a collage-type effect, with images having different sizes etc. Something like this:
http://students.cs.tamu.edu/r0a0613/collage.jpg
or even better:
http://soundwaves.usgs.gov/2001/08/collage.jpg

Is there a script which creates such a collage from a couple of source images instead of doing it manually for hundreds of photos? It doesn’t have to be very sophisticated…

Thanks very much for your help in advance,
Thomas

This collage making is the hot thing in wedding album creation now. It seems that any ‘cool’ album must be created this way. Of course, there are plenty of programs you can buy and some of them are very expensive.

I’m not an expert on these programs, because I don’t make albums in my wedding photography business. (I give them all the digital picture so they can make albums and remake them however they want.)

However, just yesterday I ran into a script that I downloaded:

http://www.avbros.com/english/collector/index.html

I hadn’t even run it until I saw your message. This will open your selected files in File Browser and put them into layers in one file. It won’t place them or do any design for you, but it is one step. It also won’t resize, but you can do that easily with Dr. Brown’s Image Processor.

In watching some discussions on this subject with wedding photographers, I think this is the only free script available. Have fun.

Thanks,
Clyde
