photoshop 5.5 tools size problem

that’s what the tools bar looks like…somehow it got too wide. anyone know how to make it back to normal size?

Try double clicking the blue bar at the top (its correct name eludes me at this point), this minimizes the toolbar then double click again to restore it. It may resize correctly, if not you can trash preferences, I am not familiar with v5.5 but in v6 there is a file called ‘Adobe Photoshop 6 Prefs.psp’ look for something similar or wait until someone else enlightens you (and me for that matter).
