I have noticed that when I create a new CMYK document and I begin using my red from my picker it looks orange, but if my document is RGB the color I select is the color I get when I apply it to the canvas. I have noticed that there is a small alternate color block with a ! in a triangle with this ugly color selected. Any ideas as of why this is happening?

That icon is a warning that the color you have selected is out of the CMYK color gamut.

Bob, What does that mean? What can I do to correct this?

You can’t correct it. It’s a warning to use another color. Clicking on the icon will give you the closest CMYK color to you choice.

Keep in mind that CMYK is a very small color gamut compared to RGB.

This is true, but I have never noticed before that I could not get a true red or even close to it.
