tutorial on creating web text graphics?

I wonder if someone could point me to a tutorial on making a decent looking text gif for a website. The logo uses Garamond. I’ve tried making a gif in photoshop and in illustrator (really flying by the seat of my pants in illustrator). They all look terrible. A step by step tutorial would be fabulous. Thanks.

try this use what ever text you like then go into layers an apply a layer style to your project if you dont have many styles first go to adobe exchange to get some then create away I hope this helps

Larry, I haven’t tried to follow the instructions yet, but that is an impressive use of font. Nice going.
