I have callibrated my monitor and scanner using Monaco EZcolor 2.6 and the Monaco sensor. The IT8 target image in PS CS (assigned the scanner profile and viewed on my callibrated monitor) looks almost exactly like it should, so these profiles are working quite well. In particular, the greys are very good.

However, when I print this IT8 image on my Epson 2000P, Premium Luster Photo Paper, using either Epson’s color controls or the Print With Preview of Photoshop CS, the print is horrible.

I can describe the print by noting that the overall look of the print is the same as the PS image I get if I modify the image with LEVELS and set input levels to 0: 2.23: 255. (In other words, I can match the overall look of the printed image by modifying the viewed image with levels.) In addition, printing with Epson Color controls give me a distinct red hue and printing with PS Print With Preview (Epson color controls explicitly turned off) gives me a green hue.

I run Win 2000. My color settings are as follows: Adobe RGB (1998), using Adobe ACE, perceptual intent, and all checkboxes in conversion and advanced sections are UNchecked. I have a NEC MultiSync FP 1370 monitor.

I’d appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Steven,

Run a nozzle check on the printer.

With Preview (Epson color controls explicitly turned off) gives me a green hue.

If by "explicitly off" you mean "No Color Adjustment" mode then "green" is to be expected.
