Since my CS upgrade I’ve had an unresolved issue with PS startup hangs at the "Reading Global Text Resources" screen but lived with them since I leave my system on and rarely have to reboot. The hangs usually lasted 30 sec.
Last night during a stormy period I shut my system down. After startup this morning I got the usual hang at the RGTR screen, only this time it lasted into the several minutes so I decided to end task CS a few times with no luck.
Searched around a bit on the Adobe forum and found suggestions from trashing preferences to the quote here:
"going thru old posts from January I found one that indicated I need to delete all the files from the CS settings folder to solve the problem. That worked, too bad I had to re-activate the software (what a pain in the ash that is). I had tried to just remove the prefrences file but that didn’t work."
After letting PS sit a while longer while I had breakfast, it finally woke up. Don’t know how long it took. Thankfully I rarely have to shut down PS but every time I do I run across this. Just wanted to let the good folks at Adobe know that this may not be as isolated an incident as it seems.
