You might want to have a look at the Canon Pixma series. The IP4000 fits the bill for home photo printing – the quality is outstanding for the price. There’s a review on www.steves-digicams.com. In short – it’s Eur130, has separate black ink tank for text printing @ 20ppm, prints double-sided and with only 4 photo inks it gives amazing photo quality compared to the more expensive 6- or 8- inks dedicated photo printers.

I’m sure if you check out comp.periphs.printers or post your question there you’ll find lots more info!
Good luck

How long do you want your images to last? For long lasting images, buy an Epson R800, or, if you can get a good price now the R1800 is out, try the Epson 2100.

And btw, £200 to £400 is approx $377 to $754.
