batch conversion help

I have 40 pics that I want to reduce from 6MB to around 1 MB I have tried messing around in photoshop but don`t understand it. Can someone guide me through it. The pics are for emailing to a friend and I will email individual pics if they want a better quality.

If you are on Windows, just go to their homepage and download the "Powertoy" which includes a picture resizer. Much quicker that way. If you also use Outlook Express, you can install it so that it is an automatic option to resize whenever you do send a picture (Jpeg).
