Epson R220 – Can this do B/W only?

Folks,
A friend tells me that an Epson R220, bought as an urgent replacement for a dead printer,
does not have a setting to print with black ink only.
I an reluctant to believe this, but it will be some time before I can get to the printer
to check it out.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?
