scripting advantages

Hi,

I fooled around with PS javascript scripting and I am asking mylself if this feature improves really on actions capabilities. I found scripts on the web and most of them ( the one I found) can be replaced by actions.

Why would I learn Photoshop scripting?

Because it allows for things that actions can’t touch. Like asking questions and getting answer from users. Logic processing like if/then statements and it allows access to the tools and stuff in Photoshop that you don’t get with actions. It also allows you to create your own dialog boxes and interfaces.

The only down side and actions have this problem too is that you have no way to protect your code from others should you decide you want to share it. But, then Adobe wants it this way so they can sell you the SDK for lots of money just so you can protect your work.
