Hello every one.

I have a problem with the Line tool. The line became an arrow(0.5 Black Arrow) and I don’t know how to fix it. If some one can please help me.

I’m working with Photoshop CS.

Thanks, Me 🙂

In the tools palette make sure that Line tool is selected, not Custom Shape tool. Hold your mouse over the button for flyover descriptions.

Peace,

The problem is that in the tool platte I don’t have a regular normal Line Tool I have only the Arrow tool.

Maybe it’s a problem with my TPL file? Even that I used the regular Line Tool before. It disappeared.

Is there an option for putting arrowheads on in the options bar (at the top). I think there is, and this would cause this problem.

The line tool is grouped with the other vector shape tools (rectangle, polygon, custom shape, etc.) directly under the type tool. Make sure you’re looking there. The arrow tool is used for editing/selecting vector paths.

When the line tool is selected, go to the options bar and find the icon that looks like an ink blot to me and click the black triangle next to it. Make sure that there is no tick next to either of the arrow heads.

Fixing something like that by reinstalling is like fixing a hangnail with a running chainsaw.

Yeah, it might be possible, but it’s super overkill.

Go ahead and continue with that ridiculous mindset if you want (it’s not your fault—it’s M*cr*s*ft’s fault for putting the Uninstall/Reinstall notion into your head), but you’ll be much better off learning the proper steps for troubleshooting, progressing from the least invasive (resetting the tool…explanation here <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?14@@.3bb55da4/10>) to most radical (zeroing out the hard drive and reinstalling everything from scratch).

I think Jim hit the nail on the head. I wouldn’t have been surprised to have heard "thingy". That’s not a problem, but not wanting to sort it out may be.

Of course Jim nailed it.

That’s because he’s obviously familiar with the application. Becoming familiar with how all the different thingies work takes time, energy and perseverance.
